Iceland - the land of fire and ice
Iceland is nature's playground. It is a diverse ecosystem that is easy to explore whether you have 1 day or 14 days. Iceland sits halfway between America and Europe. While it is one of Europe's most expensive countries, it is full of natural wonders from mountains, glaciers, hot springs, volcanoes, geysers, islands, northern lights and so much more! With 340,000 residents, and being approximately the size of Maine, there is a unique sense of adventure.
Dramatic is the best word to describe the landscape of Iceland. Climb the lip of a dormant volcanic crater, wander among the pillars of cooled lava formations, put crampons on and climb a glacier, soak in a geothermally heated pool, float amongst miniature icebergs in a glacier lagoon, experience and connect with nature at its finest. The beauty of Iceland, like an iceberg, is profoundly deep.
If you are an outdoor enthusiast, a nature lover or someone who appreciates the beauty of this world, Iceland is waiting for you to discover it.
If you are flying through Reykjavik (the capital) on your way to Europe, take an opportunity to explore the city or soak in the Blue Lagoon. If you have a few days, explore the Golden Circle and the South Coast, with some of the most amazing natural wonders Iceland has to offer. With more time rent a car or camper and set out for an adventure on the Ring Road (Route 1), an 800+ mile circuit around the island.
As with any place, explore the culture and learn what Icelandic life is like. You may be familiar with some Icelandic music artists such as Bjork, Sigur Ros, Of Monsters and Men or Kaleo.
Explore and enjoy! There is so much to see and experience, and Safe Travels!
