  • LANGUAGE The official language in Nepal is Nepali, but there are 123 Nepalese languages spoken as a mother tongue.

  • GEOGRAPHY Nepal measures about 880 kilometers (547 mi) along its Himalayan axis. It has an area of 147,181 square kilometers (56,827 sq mi). Nepal is landlocked by India on three sides and Tibet to the north. West Bengal’s narrow Siliguri Corridor or Chicken’s Neck separates Nepal and Bangladesh. To the east are India and Bhutan.

  • ECONOMY & BUDGET Economic development has been complicated and affected by the constant change in political scenarios which have ranged from monarchy to being ruled by the Communist party in 2019. Traveling in Nepal is affordable, with a rough estimate of US$20 – 80 per day/ person.

  • SAFETY There’s a low rate of serious crime in Nepal. However, you should take sensible precautions. Watch out for pick-pockets and bag-snatching, particularly in airports, on buses, and in areas popular with foreign nationals like Thamel, Sanepa, and Kupondol in Kathmandu. Take care when walking around at night. It is highly recommended to have travel insurance when traveling to Nepal.
